Assalamu Alaikum,   I was informed that beginning the Islamic Day with Magrib is incorrect and that this is a Jewish custom. Asr prayer is the midday prayer that we are commanded to perform consistently by the Holy Qur'an, according to practically all muftasirs. The Day should begin at Fajr if Asr must be the mid-prayer.
