Understand Quran and Namaz Part 3b

Arabic Subject Pronouns:

In Arabic the subject pronoun is more specific than many other languages, for example there are different ways to say “you” in Arabic depending on who you’re addressing it to, for example to address 2 people you use a subject pronoun different than the one you would use for a single person, also if you’re addressing more than two people you will have to use a different form for that as well. Finally most of subject pronouns have a feminine and a masculine form. The below shows the different forms you may come across:

1.When you say َ- He.   هو (huwa)

point the index (He), of the right

towards your right as if that person is sitting on your right.

 2.When you say ُْه) -They هُم (Hum)
point all the four fingers of your right hand

towards your right.

3.When you say ََْأ) -You تُن (Antun)

point the index finger of your right hand

towards your front.

4.When you say ُْ-All of you هُن (Hun)

ْ, point all the four
fingers of your right hand towards your side of All People.

5.When you say ََأ) I, انا (ana)paoint the index finger of your right hand
